Monday was our second doctor's appointment. It was supposed to me much less nerve-wracking than the first appointment but Baby Wo had other thoughts in mind. Dr. Sullivan tried to listen to his/her heart beat with some sort of Doppler machine and we heard nothing but my heart beating faster and faster as I got more nervous. Within a few minutes, I was in panic mode and we were in line for an ultrasound. Kevin tried his best to play it cool, only to tell me after the fact that he was very worried.
Long story short, with a bladder full of water, its hard to hear Baby Wo. He popped right up on the ultrasound screen! He has migrated to the bottom of my uterus and seems to be very comfortable. It looks like he is sitting in a little hammock. We could actually see toes and a little nose in the photos and no surprise here, long legs!
I guess Baby Wo has a sense of humor from the get go...must take after his mom!

10 down, 30 to go
This has been a great week for us! Kevin played in a Championship Softball game on Monday. It went into 2 extra innings. Kevin came up to bat, with one out, and hit a walk-off homerun to win the game! It was definitely exciting!
My baby bump also happened to appear this week. Not sure where it came from, but its there and I am having a little trouble getting used to it. Guess I need to make piece with it now, its only going to get larger.
We are really starting to focus on moving out West very soon. I want to be nice and settled before this little bundle makes an appearance AND I'm not sure that I want to have another hot, long summer in New Orleans, but really, who can blame me?

and baby makes 3

We got good news last week....we're expecting a baby! The doctor says baby w is doing just great, has a strong heart beat and is developing nicely. He (we keep referring to baby W as a boy....wonder what that means) is about the size of a raspberry and looks like a blob when photoed.
Our familes are super excited too which makes sharing the news even more fun! Kevin is over the moon, I have never seen him so excited. He wants to tell everyone. I am still a little overwhelmed, but I think that will wear off once the exhaustion disappears.
Mark your calendars.....12.8.10. That's the due date. Until then, we are trying to soak up every single piece of life we can together. Things are about to really get whirley for us!

baby CASH

Jaime (and Sonny) brought a beautiful baby boy into this world. We has a head full of hair and cute little rosy cheeks. Makes me want to have one of my own, but I think they really broke the mold on this one.
Congrats to you both! He is going to have the best family a kid could ever ask for! I can't want to watch him grow up!
I can see!
I just had LASIK preformed on Friday. It was the best decision. My site it back and even better than before, things seems to be much more crisp and clear. Maybe I will start seeing the world in a different light?
I highly recommend getting this procedure done. I didn't read very much about the actual procedure before I went in on Friday - I didn't want to scare myself. Its really nuts, at one point, you literally go blind and then your sight comes back and off you go. Eyes covered with plastic shields and home to sleep for a bit.
I woke up on Friday night, my vision was awesome up close, still blurry far way. Same story on Saturday but definitely improving. Sunday, was a HUGE difference. I could see 100%! Done and done! No more glasses for me!

4 months down.
and a life time to go! We just hit our 4 month mark and things are going just great. I want to do a world of things this year with Kevin so I thought it best to write a list...
1. Visit LA
2. Angola Prison Rodeo
3. Get back into fighting shape
4. Visit Portland (Abby's photos look so fun!)
5. Take more photos.
6. Strawberry Festival
7. Learn to boil crawfish.
8. Think about starting a family.
We will see if putting my ideas in writing for all the world to see will help. Its definitely going to be an uphill battle. Wish us luck!

marching on to mardi gras...

What a weekend it has been. Keith and crew arrived in town on Saturday morning and we headed straight to Bourbon. Hurricanes were had by all. The quarter was alive with Saints buzz and everyone was in great spirits. From the quarter, we headed uptown to catch a parade and then right on to Superior Grill for their fajitas.
Sunday started with a big breakfast and brought about the same trip. Back to the quarter, this time for Barkus and more reveling, followed by the Superbowl.
Win or lose, the game was going to be exciting. Well, the Saints one. We dropped everything and headed to the quarter. We just wanted to be a part of history in the making. We took a bus and hitch-hiked to get there, but get there we did.
I can't even begin to describe the scene, take Mardi Gras, throw in some love and hugs, and a super bowl win, then add a dash of high-fives. Top it all off with music and dancing. That's what it was like. Complete chaos.

hurricane nola

This city is nuts right now and it feels great to be a part of all the action. The Saints are headed to the Superbowl for the first time in history and win or lose, we will be proud.
I have watched the youtube.com videos and followed the press and all of them make we well up with pride. I was a part of the rebuilding and rebirth. I was here and I rebuilt. We have come back stronger than ever and no hurricane can ever take this feeling away.
This game is going to make all the hard work well worth it. The long road to recovery is now paved in gold thanks to the boys in black. Victorious or not, thank you Saints.
