Self Feeding is Fun

It seems like every day Parker learns to do something new.  His most recent obsession has been feeding himself.  He has really been working on his fine motor skills.  He is great at reaching out and grabbing food but not so great about getting it into his mouth.

I constantly find little bits of food smashed in his palms.  Bananas are by far his favorite food and the worst to feed him.  We end up with a sticky child and banana every where but his mouth.  I must say that he definitely gets an A for effort.

I do consider myself a little fortunate, clean up isn't all that bad.  The tray is dishwasher safe and Dexter is always at the ready when Parker drops a crumb.  He rushes in and cleans it up fast!

And he's off!

Parker is crawling now.  It's not a full on crawl, more of an army crawl.  He is all over the place.  His little chunky thighs are finally coming in handy and he is mobile.  We put him down and off he goes.  It's so fun to watch him see something and crawl right up to explore it.

As of late, his most favorite thing to do is to dump over the dog's water bowl. He has managed to do this no less than every other day in the last two weeks.  It always manages to happen while I am racing around to get ready for work.  This morning was an exceptionally traumatic event, the bowl was full.  Parker ended up with a sopping wet belly and was just devastated.  I must admit, I laughed, just a little bit.

Here's a photo of the event - post spill, he is face down and in a fit of tears.

Wet Parker, notice the large water spot in the background.
I knew this day would come, but I'm not sure I was ready for it.  I am excited to see him grow up, but a little sad that he is becoming a big boy so fast.

Great Trip to SoCal

We recently traveled to Southern California for a wedding.  Grandpa and Grandma Worley obviously made the trek south just to visit Kevin and me, Parker was a bonus!  We spent our first day in Los Angeles.  The weather was amazing, sunny and 72.  I couldn't have asked for a prettier day.  After spending just one day in sunny LA in June, I am more convinced that I am not made for New Orleans' humidity.
despite my best efforts, Parker would never ever look at the camera. he loves the water.

We managed to sneak in a little pool time.  Parker just loves the water.  I can't wait until he is old enough to rough house with his uncles.
