Happy 4-Month Birthday to Parker!

I can't believe its been 4 months since Parker Hoover Worley was born!  He has grown so much in the last 4 months, weighing in at 13lbs, 5 ounces and 24 inches.  He is taller than 75% of the kids his age and in the 50% range for his weight.  Thank goodness he got his mom's height - let's hope that we can add his dad's athletic ability to the mix - a star is born!

The time has flown by and in celebration of the big day and the time flying by, Parker has been using his duck towel post bath.

A Day in the Park

We had the best weather this weekend. All in preparation for a week full of rain. We took advantage of the nice day and took Parker and the dogs to the Park. We spent a few hours lounging under a huge oak tree.

Parker really loved the warm breezes they put him right to sleep.

Medicine. Yuck.

The last two weeks have been really tough.  Since our return from California, Parker has not been sleeping well. He would eat and go down for about an hour and then wake up and scream. At first, we blamed the long nights on messing up his schedule and then we decided that he didn't like to sleep alone. We brought him to sleep in our bed which made for even longer nights and didn't seem to stop him from crying...for hours on end.

The ladies at his daycare just couldn't imagine that the sweet little child that we dropped off to them every day would ever cry. We got the same report from them every day.."He's just an angel.". At times, I felt like they had my Parker confused with another child.

Last Friday, Parker had a follow up with his doctor about an ear infection. Kevin started telling her about his episodes and she immediately had an answer. She told us the answer was plain and simple - he has acid reflux. It makes so much sense! He spends all day in the nursery, propped upright and when we put his flat in his crib, the acid reflux makes him miserable.

She prescribed us liquid Zantac and said to make him sleep upright. I can only blame his genetics - both grandpas tend to eat Zantac or Pepcid fairly regularly. Unfortunately for Parker, he really dislikes the taste of his mint flavored Zantac. A spoonful of sugar will not help this medicine go down.

Looks like he is more like his grandpas than we could have imagined, they can watch TV and eat Zantac together!

Blabber Mouth

Parker has found his voice!  He just talks and talks, to his toys, the ceiling fan, his fingers...just about anything that will listen.

Hello, TV.

Parker found the tv this weekend. We put him down to play for a bit and within a few minutes he had rolled onto his side to watch tv. He would have layed there for most of the afternoon if we would have let him.

We sat him up in his bumbo for a better view.

Successful Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras day
We survived, baby and all.  Parker is now a Mardi Gras veteran.

I can't wait until next year when we can put him up on a ladder!

bubble bath

Parker really loves being in the water and doesn't mind taking a bath every once in a while either. When he's not feeling well or we can't seem to make him happy, getting him into the bath makes everything right in his world.

Today I added bubbles...

and he tried to eat them by the fistfull. He definitely liked his bubble bath.

I think I had just as much fun as he did. I spent tons of time on his hair.  Happy Tuesday!  Happy Mardi Gras!

Mardi Gras 2011

Parker came...
Parker saw

and caught beads...
but Mardi Gras conquered.
Mardi Gras 2011 was a slower than normal for the Worley family this year.  We normally catch seven or eight parades a year.  This year, the parade count was two.  We decided we couldn't pass up the opportunity to take Parker to his first Mardi Gras parades.  I was a little anxious about him being completely overloaded by all the lights, sounds, and people but he seemed to really enjoy himself.  Parker seemed to really enjoy the bright lights and sounds. His eyes were wide open for most of the night.

His bed time came and went and he was still wide awake, but just a little after 8:30, we found him sound asleep, he had his fair share of Mardi Gras.

California Trip - a big success

Our trip to California was a big success for the most part. Parker slept through most of the flights there and back. He seems made to travel the friendly skies. He was also a huge hit with his West Coast extended family.

He got to meet his Uncle Kyle and Aunt Lindsey for the first time and seemed to love them both!

Kevin and I managed to escape for just a bit and made a visit to the Big Trees and also to Moaning Caverns, it was nice to be able to spend the day with each other. We tried our best not to talk about Parker the entire time.

Right before we left, Parker giggled for the first time. His grandpa Dennis made it happen! Video to come very soon.

March 1: What a great day for the Worleys

March 1 was a big day.  Parker turned 3 months old and I started a new job!  What a great way to begin the month of March and Mardi Gras season.

We also have visitors coming in this weekend - Aunt Alyssa and Uncle Andy, all the way from Boston. I can't wait for them to meet baby P.
